Beauty Bargains
Another money saving tip from me but this time it’s all about health and beauty!
I have discovered a scheme run by Boots that allows you to recycle old beauty empties and get 33% off your purchases. Since we all have to buy toiletries on a regular basis, and it is also a nod to sustainability, this is a scheme I wholeheartedly endorse (I’m not paid to say that) and use myself on a regular basis.
It works like this. Collect up your empty shampoos, moisturisers, creams, makeup palettes, even toothbrushes and toothpaste tubes. Download the Boots Recycle app. Scan your items. Wait for them to be approved. Take them to a Boots and deposit them in the recycle bin, following the instructions. You will then receive a digital reward voucher. Spend a minimum of £10 in the same visit and receive 500 points free. When you next shop, you can use those 500 points, worth £5, against purchases.
Now let’s do the maths…I have seen this touted as ‘free money’ and a 50% discount. It is neither! Effectively, you are buying £10 worth of goods at full price and then getting £5 worth of goods free. By my calculation, that £15 worth of goods for £10 – which is a 33% discount.
As I said, since we all buy goods on a regular basis I think that’s worth having.
Also, watch out for £10 Tuesday – on this day, Boots sells a number of items for £10, when their normal RRP can be £25 – which is about a 60% discount. Also worth having.
In these times of high living costs, every little really does make a difference!
